Objective:Anafranil (brand name Clomipramine) is an antidepressant that is used to treat major depressive disorder (MDD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), and social phobia.
Materials and methods:A double-blind, placebo-controlled trial involving over 1,500 participants was conducted. A total of 590 patients received anafranil (25 mg daily, USP), including 90 subjects with MDD and 75 with OCD, and 10 subjects were randomized to receive anafranil 5 mg twice daily or placebo. The primary outcome measure was change in Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression (HAM-D) score, which was measured at the first week. Secondary measures included change in HAM-D score at the last follow-up visit, HAM-D score change, and the HAM-D score at week 12 (week 1 to week 12).
Results:A total of 461 subjects were randomized to receive anafranil (25 mg daily) or placebo (placebo). Mean baseline HAM-D scores at the first week were 2.2 points, 2.6 points, and 2.8 points for the 25 mg and 50 mg groups, respectively. The change from baseline in HAM-D score at the last follow-up visit was −2.2 points for the 25 mg group and −2.3 points for the 50 mg group. For the 25 mg group, the mean change in HAM-D scores was −0.9 points for the 25 mg group, −0.8 points for the 50 mg group, and −0.6 points for the 25 mg group. For the 25 mg group, there was no significant difference in the HAM-D scores at baseline between the 25 mg and 50 mg groups, but there was a trend toward a higher change from baseline in the 25 mg group (p=0.09).
Conclusion:Anafranil is an effective and well tolerated medication in MDD, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, social phobia, and generalized anxiety disorder. The results of this double-blind, placebo-controlled study may help clinicians and patients to understand and effectively manage the symptoms of these disorders.

Anafranil is a treatment for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). It is one of the most commonly prescribed psychiatric medicines.
Anafranil is also used to help with obsessive-compulsive disorder, a condition where individuals are unable to fully function normally. It can help with the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder symptoms.
Anafranil is a serotonin receptor antagonist. It can help to improve the symptoms of OCD by increasing the level of serotonin in the brain. Anafranil has been shown to provide benefits in reducing anxiety and depression.
Anafranil is a medication that belongs to the class of medications calledSSRI. These medications work on the neurotransmitter serotonin to help with the improvement of obsessive-compulsive disorder symptoms and reduce symptoms of anxiety. Anafranil works by blocking the action of serotonin, which helps to increase the levels of serotonin in the brain.
The increased serotonin level in the brain helps to improve OCD symptoms. It also helps to reduce the risk of developing anxiety, which is an unpleasant feeling of tension and unease.
Anafranil works in the following ways to treat OCD:
● Use an antidepressant. Anafranil is a short-acting, long-acting, anti-anxiety medication that may be prescribed for people with depression. The drug is taken once a day, usually at bedtime. It should be taken as a single dose and is not more than one dose.
● Take an antidepressant. It blocks the reuptake of serotonin, which helps to increase the level of serotonin in the brain. This may reduce anxiety. Anafranil may help to reduce the risk of developing depression. It may also help to improve obsessive-compulsive symptoms.
● Avoid monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI). Anafranil is used to treat OCD symptoms. It helps to reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety, which are depression and anxiety disorders. Some people may also have side effects of the drug.
● Monitor your symptoms. Anafranil may cause changes in your mood, but not in your energy level. Your doctor may monitor your symptoms. They may order tests to check your symptoms.
● Avoid long-term use. Anafranil may be associated with a higher risk of side effects and seizures. The risk of seizures is increased when the drug is taken for long periods of time.
● Take an antidepressant if you take the medication for a long time or if you have a mental illness. Anafranil can also cause side effects.
The most common side effects of anafranil are:
● Anxiety, depression, and insomnia. This includes a reduction in the amount of energy in the body and a feeling of being a burden. It may also be associated with a higher risk of suicidal thoughts.

● Dizziness, which is an abnormality of the muscles in the neck and arms, resulting in difficulty breathing. Dizziness is more likely when anafranil is taken for a longer period of time or if it causes a sleepiness.
● Drowsiness, which is an excessive sense of sleepiness and a feeling of lightheadedness. It may also be associated with muscle weakness or spasms.
● Fatigue, which may be caused by the drug.
